New England Scrapbook Company!

Ahh.....the month of love is my favorite of all! It's also my favorite scrappin' theme mainly because Valentine's Day papers are so fun to work with!  Pink, Red & hearts are so versaitle and I have so many things in my life that I love --- I could play with Valentine's Day Papers all year long.

The February Company Kit from the New England Scrapbook Company is no exception.

"The Company Kit" - February

It is full of gorgeous papers and embellishments from Bo Bunny, Maya Road, Kaisercraft, Making Memories, Webster's Pages, and more!  You can find more information about purchasing the kit, the add-on or the shipping by emailing them at newenglandscrapbook@yahoo.com.  You can also see all the designs from the DT over on their flickr page ----- enjoy!

And guess what?  I am the newest member of their DT - so you can watch for my March designs to come!

Page Maps!

I'm a big fan of Becky Fleck and her Page Maps!  I was thrilled to see a new challenge up on her blog this month ---- so I spent some time at the scrappy retreat playing with it!

Here is the sketch:

Here is what I came up with:

Here are a couple extra cards I created with my yummy Jenni Bowlin "BE OUR GUEST" scraps:

It's Berrylicious!

Imaginisce is having there Berrylicious Release Party this week over on their blog!  You know what that means?  Lots of amazing ideas and some great giveaways!  Make sure to check out yesterday's blog post, today's and tomorrow's!    Here are some of my designs with my new FAVORITE IMAGINISCE LINE - BERRYLICIOUS!

Retreat Recap...

Oh, so much to share with you all today!

First a recap of my scrappin' weekend with the girls - I had a great time with my buddies, but it was one of those weekends --- things were just a bit off and I had my share of craziness...

-I lost my credit card - who knows where it is.....
-Spilt my full extra hot starbucks latte on the floor of my buddies car....
-Lost my favorite scissors...
-Couldn't get in the groove and did a lot of sitting around and staring at my stash
-Had no internet access and very bad phone reception...
-Found out that my son broke his heel...bummed me out all day

-I completed 20 layouts, 17 cards, and 2 altered items
-Ate some super good food and snacks -- all with NO calories in them
- Found my scissors!
-Laughed, cried, and fellowshipped with my new and old friends and that made it ALL worth it!

Love all my buddies who are there for me - thanks friends!

See that look on Tenaya's face?  We threw her a surprise baby shower  - it was so much fun!

When we get together, we always do some fun challenges and games (usually at 11pm to wake us back up!) --- this year in addition to a Round Robin and the Grab Bag game, we played:

Bossy Scrapper --- someone creates a list of 8-10 items and then gives you them one every 5 minutes while you are creating.  Your finished layout has to have all the items visible on it!  Here are the 2 I completed during Bossy Scrapper (btw - they are my favorite layouts of the weekend!)

The 8 requirements for the first one were:
you had to use two different fonts, a punch, bling, twine, sticker, something from the person on your left, stitching, and a shape:

The 8 requirements for the second one were:  a sticker, a doily, a flower, fabric, something vintage, a pocket, cardstock and something borrowed from someone across the room:

I'll be back later today with some more scrappiness and some fun reminders!

Up for the Challenge?

Sometimes life is a challenge, plain and simple.  A challenge for sure.  This week has been that way for me.  Nothing major happening and no need to worry (mom :) ), just a challenge all around.  To many things to think about, too many things to worry about, to many things to dwell on --- just too many things.  It's a challenge to stay patient, a challenge to stay sane, a challenge to stay on top of it all --- just a challenge PERIOD.

Why does the Lord allow weeks like these?  I woke up with that answer today .... because He love me.  He wants me to reach out to Him, to love Him, to lean on Him --- because HE can make this day less of a challenge for me.  He can carry the burden for me.  He can locate my patience, my smile, my determination and fill me back up.  He is my lifeline.

I was in need of that reminder.  I have been walking the fence lately, easily forgeting that HE is my stregnth and my stability and that I need HIM.  I can not do this alone, but HE can help me.  He will help me.  He will not give me more than I can handle.

Well, I appreciate the nudge today Lord, all is well in my world.

Update:  Thanks Ruth for the great verse that you shared in the comments!  Perfect for me today and so worth sharing!

Psalm 118
 1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
   his love endures forever.
 2 Let Israel say:
   “His love endures forever.”
3 Let the house of Aaron say:
   “His love endures forever.”
4 Let those who fear the LORD say:
   “His love endures forever.”
 5 When hard pressed, I cried to the LORD;
   he brought me into a spacious place.
6 The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid.
   What can mere mortals do to me?
7 The LORD is with me; he is my helper.
   I look in triumph on my enemies.
 8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD
   than to trust in humans.
9 It is better to take refuge in the LORD
   than to trust in princes.
10 All the nations surrounded me,
   but in the name of the LORD I cut them down.
11 They surrounded me on every side,
   but in the name of the LORD I cut them down.
12 They swarmed around me like bees,
   but they were consumed as quickly as burning thorns;
   in the name of the LORD I cut them down.
13 I was pushed back and about to fall,
   but the LORD helped me.
14 The LORD is my strength and my defense[a];
   he has become my salvation.
 15 Shouts of joy and victory
   resound in the tents of the righteous:
“The LORD’s right hand has done mighty things!
 16 The LORD’s right hand is lifted high;
   the LORD’s right hand has done mighty things!”
17 I will not die but live,
   and will proclaim what the LORD has done.
18 The LORD has chastened me severely,
   but he has not given me over to death.
19 Open for me the gates of the righteous;
   I will enter and give thanks to the LORD.
20 This is the gate of the LORD
   through which the righteous may enter.
21 I will give you thanks, for you answered me;
   you have become my salvation.
 22 The stone the builders rejected
   has become the cornerstone;
23 the LORD has done this,
   and it is marvelous in our eyes.
24 The LORD has done it this very day;
   let us rejoice today and be glad.
 25 LORD, save us!
   LORD, grant us success!
 26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD.
   From the house of the LORD we bless you.[b]
27 The LORD is God,
   and he has made his light shine on us.
With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession
   up[c] to the horns of the altar.
 28 You are my God, and I will praise you;
   you are my God, and I will exalt you.
 29 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
   his love endures forever.

Catchin' Up!

I just realized that I have some designs that I haven't shared with you yet!  So here you go:

Using some yummy new Little Yellow Bicycle papers - to be released soon! --- David says he knows that you all will leave him tons of comments, more than I've ever gotten before????  See, no lack of confidence!

Isn't she cute?  Too much sun shining when I took this picture, but you get the idea!  Too much sun is a good problem to have!

The fun camping line from October Afternoon:

Trying my hand at stamping and paper piecing - think it's pretty cute:

Best Creations Blog Hop!

The Details:

We are having our First Blog Hop of the new season today and our theme is "Creating Handmade Spring Flowers" On each blog you will find lots of incredible projects and ways to create and use spring flowers that you can make yourself! In order to win our Grand Prize be sure and collect the kinds of flowers made on each blog and send the list to teresa@bestcreation.us. Also be sure and leave comments along your way on each of our DT's blogs and especially on the Best Creation blog at the end of the hop. Be sure and check out www.bestcreationinc.blogspot.com for the list of prizes you are going to win.

The Sample:

Those that know me, know that I'm flower challenged!  I think that comes with raising 5 boys and 2 tomboys and not being very girly myself.  Flowers are just not on my list of favorite embellishments.  However, I have fallen in love with my Sizzix die --- it makes creating my own matching flowers quick & easy!

Gather some scraps and my Cuttlebug:

Cut out multiple flowers in all different sizes and papers, spritz them with water and crumple them all up:

Then all you need to do is layer them with Best Creations Pop-dots and add some ink to the edges!

Easy Peasy, right?  So that is the name of these flowers for you, the Easy Peasy Flowers!  Take note of that, leave me a comment and head on over to the next stop, the blog of Irit Shalom!

Ahh.... the month of Love!

I don't know why I love February so much!  Could be that I love Valentine's Day, could be that I love the 4 day holiday, could be that I love my winter scrap weekend, or it could just be that it marks the beginning of the weather changing which makes for a much better attitude around my house!

Whatever it is, I love February!  The new kit at Dixie Pieces is something else that I love!  Dreamcicle --- doesn't that just sound yummy?

Here are a couple of my designs - remember that you can view all the Design Team photos over in the gallery!  And you will want to get your kit quickly this month!
