Some Making Memories fun:

On Saturday, we met up with Sherry, Brenna & Robert to hit a few hot shopping spots in the area around LA/Anaheim. Our first stop was the Fabric Barn in Long Beach. I have to say, we were a little disappointed! Last time I visited there were spools and spools and spools of ribbon -- all of which was sold by the yard at amazing prices. However, this year, in an attempt to stop loosing money with people cutting ribbon and then not purchasing it, they switched over to only selling by the bolt. This drastically cut down on how much we shopped, but we all did manage to do a bit of damage. It was really hysterical later that night when we tried to split up our bolts of ribbon into equal parts by running the leg nth of the hotel hallways!

After a quick stop for a Starbucks fix, we arrived in the great city of Orange, CA. The antique shops were abundant and mixed in with some fabulous boutiques! One of my favorites was this cute little shop full of yumminess!

even the bathroom was cute!

There was a adorable cupcake store all made out in light teal, black & white. Oh my --- was it beautiful! My pictures do not do it justice!

We had lunch at a BBQ place --- yummy grilled cheese and pulled chicken --- and sweet potato fries!

After a few hours of walking, shopping and eating - we headed to the Fashion District in Los Angeles. What an adventure that was! Store front after store front of material, ribbon, purses, shoes, sunglasses and everything else you could think of. No prices on anything --- it was all one big free for all. Found a purse I loved and they wanted $42 for it. After a little negotiating and actually walking out of the store a few times --- I ended up paying $22 for it. What a unique and strange place. Not sure if I will ever go back! On our way back to the freeway, we spotted this very cool graffiti wall:

I need to get a hold of Robyn & Carla's cameras for some more pics from there.

Then after getting lost -- user error with the GPS -- we ended up running to our class at the Convention Center -- literally! The class was fun and I will post my finished product - after I finish it!

Check back tomorrow for the pics from the Trade Show itself!

Lots to catch you up on!

There is so much happening in my little scrappin' world today! Are you ready?

First off is the Purple Cow Contest. Last week I posted about it but they had some trouble with their voting site, so it has started all over again! So, help me out and click on the above link and go vote! I'd love it if you voted for me, but regardless, just vote! Pick out your favorite piece of art and cast your vote. You can vote once per computer and the voting will continue till next Tuesday the 2nd of February. The top 10 vote getters will then be narrowed down to the top 5 by the in house DT and staff of Purple Cows! It's so exciting!

Next up is a huge celebration announcement! My Sketch World is turning 4 years old next month and Lucy is celebrating with a SKETCH-A-THON! There will be 20 days of brand new sketches and tons of great prizes from some fabulous sponsors! I know that both Imaginisce and Scrappin' Sports & More have both donated product along with lots of other great places! So don't miss out --- just getting access to 20 new sketches from LUCY is fabulous enough!

Next up is some fun scrappin' news for me! Ever since the SCRAP-Diner closed it's doors, I have been on the lookout for a new online full-line scrapbook store! I found one! A Walk Down Memory Lane is definitely full service --- they have everything and anything you can possible want to add to your scrappin' stash! I have already placed my first order! I can't wait till that scrappin' box arrives! To make things even more exciting, I am joining their Design Team for the next 6 months! So make sure you come on over and join in on the fun! Their blog is hoping and starting on February 1st --- you will find something fun there almost every day of the week! Tons of inspiration! I am really excited to work with Lucy & Lisa and the rest of the great team over there - make sure to check out the sidebar for the links to the new team and all their crafting goodness!

Finally, keep an eye out for a big announcement from Dixie Pieces on Monday! There is not only a new kit release that day, but a brand new event that you will definitely want to get in on!

I am planning on scrapping tonight --- hoping to have lots to share with you tomorrow!

Check back later today for a photo heavy post about the trip to CHA!

I made the 25 finalists in a fabulous contest over at the PURPLE COWS blog and there are only 2 days for everyone to vote for their favorite! Do me a favor and head on over there and cast your vote for the piece of art that that stands out to you! Fabulous stuff over there! Thanks!

CALIFORNIA - the sunshine state?

After all the trauma of getting here (a whole other story) - there has been nothing but rain. Californians do NOT know how to function in the rain. It is sunny at 60 degrees in Washington --- maybe they should all move up there.

But anyway --- we attended the Craft Supershow today --- the preview/warm up to CHA for the public. Craziness ---- but fun. Craft SuperShow stop number one was to see Donna Downey -- Carla is a BIG fan:

We met up with Sherry, Brenna & Robert for dinner at Red Robin --- it's always fun to hang out with them!

That's it for now --- make sure to stop my tomorrow for some sneak peaks from Scrappin' Sports & more and some new layouts!

This is my absolute favorite time of the year! Before you know it, all the scrappy stores will be stocked full of brand new product just waiting for me to take it home! Yes, I am a collector - of all things scrapbooking - I can't help it. I make up for it in other areas of my life where I work hard to be a purger. In fact, we make a donation run about once a month and it always amazes me that I have 3-4 garbage bags full of stuff each time! But alas, nothing ever leaves my scrap space. I guess it's a good thing that I have my own room and I don't have to worry if it starts overflowing!

Imaginisce has just released some sneak peaks and they are fabulous! In fact, it's almost like they created them just for me! My favorite is their new Wedding line - "To LOVE & CHERISH" ----

TLC Collection Image

I can't wait to get my hands on this --- I see a wedding minibook in my future!

Next up is "Live out Loud" --- fantastic boy line --- and I have plenty of boys! Check out the guitar too --- hmmm.... I have band photos too!

Live Loud Collection Image

And finally, "SPLASH DANCE" --- an adorable line of summer paper that I can't wait to use with my 25 years worth of Pacific Beach photos! Like I said, PERFECT for me!

and last but not least is more fun stuff for the i-top! You will now be able to get brad, magnet, button and pin backers!

-School is starting up again - we made it to the half-way point so from here on out it is down hill to summer --- let the countdown begin! I love summer!

Be back later today with some more sneak peaks and some art!

I was so surprised to get an email from them asking me if I would join them.......hmmmm, let me think. YES --- YES --- YES! As soon as the crazy chaos of CHA is over, I will be getting my assignments! I feel blessed, humble, and proud all at the same time! This is going to be one fabulous year! Praise the Lord!

to all the new Dixie Pieces Design Team Members! It was an extrememly tough decision for Sherry & Brenna with a boatload of talented ladies applying! I am thankful that the task of choosing just 4 didn't fall on me! I wouldn't have been able to do it! There are some great things coming up over there too! The first weekend in February is our annual "Beat the Winter Blues" crop and we are gearing up to have a ton of fun! Make usre you head on over to the forums and meet the new girls!

But let me give you a brief introduction!

Remember those...

...fun new brads that I showed you this morning? The ones that I made with my new favorite tool from Imaginisce, the i-top. I was thrilled when I thought it was just a brad maker, but guess what? It's more than that - now it's a magnet maker too! Brand new magnet backs take this tool to another level! You can check out some amazing projects made by the design team and read all about the new product on the Imaginisce blog.

I used one of the new magnet backers for a fun Valentine Minibook closure:

Sweet Cheri - Mini Side View

Sweet Cheri - Mini Magnet View

Sweet Cheri - Open View

The cards inside are two sided and each on contains a mini love note to David --- a reason why I love him ----

In addition, I made some really cute little magnets for my board:

I love the magnet backers, what will they think of next?

It's My Birthday!

Yep, it is and it's been a really great weekend. I am trying not to dwell on the fact that I am turning 45 years old and trying to focus on how much fun life is! So far, so good!

I have some fun Design Team stuff to share with you today! Are you ready?

The Imaginisce Lucy Bird Collection is adorable! Lucy Bird is a fun, bright, cheerful spring line full of flowers, birds and butterflies! My favorite item in the collection is the rub-on borders!

Do you see those terrycloth brads? hehehe --- they make me happy! I have had a swatch book of terrycloth samples around waiting for the perfect project and when I received the i-top tool in my scrappy package, I knew it was time to use it! I am loving making my own brads and I especially love the fabrics ones! The little brads --- those are covered in t-shirt fabric. I have a donation bag in the hall closet where the kids put clothes that they outgrow or don't want anymore. shhhhhh.....don't tell anyone but I raided the bag! I cut up the t-shirts into pieces and have been covering brads with them!

Come back tomorrow --- I have a scrappy announcement to share with you!
