Polar Expressions - Samples and a Tutorial!

That was so much fun! Creating with my first box of goodies from Imaginisce was amazing! I worked with all the fun, spunky, Christmas products from their holiday release, POLAR EXPRESSIONS! The line has 12 wonderful 2-sided papers and tons of fabulous embellishments! The papers are wonderfully textured with shimmer, sparkle and embossing! Oh, and the rub-ons ---- like BUTTER! Even the intricate details of the border rub-ons were applied in one smooth motion! Love that!

We love to Countdown to Christmas in our house and every year, I try to come up with another idea to make it fun and special. The POLAR EXPRESSIONS LINE was a perfect choice because of the variety of papers, embellishments and acrylic stamps! My little Countdown Book has a page for every day in December with a family Christmas activity that we can do together. Every page is perforated at the top so it can be torn out of the book at the end of each day! I kept the pages fairly simple because of the disposable nature of the project! Check out the easy instructions following the pictures!

The cover and the last page:

This picture shows the perforation and the clean way the pages come out of the book!

Polar Expressions - Countdown to Christmas 4

Step #1 – Cut 24 pieces of matching cardstock 3 x 6
Step #2 – Cut 2 pieces of chipboard 3 x 6.5
Step #3 – Using the perforation blade of your cutter – perforate all cardstock pieces 1.5 inches down from one end
Step #4 – Round bottom 2 corners of cardstock and chipboard --- opposite end from perforation
Step #5 – Using Bind-it-All --- punch holes in all pieces of cardstock and chipboard
Step #6 – Layer pieces as follows: chipboard, cardstock color #1, cardstock color #2, Cardstock #3, repeat using all cardstock and finish with back piece of chipboard.
Step #7 – Decorate all pages being careful not to cover perforation marks!

The fun punched out sunburst shapes are made with the i-top tool punches! These are so versatile! I can't wait to layer all three sizes and make a fun flower embellishment --- with the i-top brad in the center! Fun!

Happy Anniversary to US!

23 years ago, I married the best man in the whole world --- okay well in my world! I have been married for more than half my life to the only man in the world who really gets me, puts up with me, and loves me for who I am. We understand each other and can complete each other's sentences. It still amazes me how comfortable we are together.

We have made it through everything imaginable -- all those vows that we made to stick together no matter what. We've done that. Richer - been there. Poorer - been there. Sickness - been there. Health - been there. For better - been there. For worse - been there. Sadness - been there. Joy - been there. Comfort - check. Love - check. Forsaking all others - absolutely.

We have done it all -- and plan to continue doing it all -- till death to we part.

Just a note to David: You are the most amazing husband and father in the whole world! Know that I love you with all my heart and can't wait to spend the next 23 years with you!

You were an amazing baby - so easy. You hung out in the backpack while your dad coached, you sat in the baby seat and watched baseball, you just hung out awhile your brothers and sisters run around ---- you were always happy & content. Today you still are. You are mellow, happy & content with who you are but you always strive to learn & improve. You are going places --- I can't wait to be there for the ride!

Weekend Update!

It's been a long weekend around here -- but fabulous all around! David had Friday off and we were able to get some things crossed off the to-do list to get ready for the winter and the holidays around here.

David & the boys cleaned the gutters, stacked more wood, chopped up the downed tree branches, cleaned out the sheds, arranged the inside storage closet, patched the hole in the wall and David even worked on the sheetrock side job for his co-worker.

We had a couple practices, a piano recital, a birthday party, a band practice, a soccer game and Jordan & I even went to see NEW MOON (more on that later!) It has been a busy weekend.

But, the funnest thing that we did was to create these:

pop cakes

These are CAKE POPS --- and we learned about them from the Bakerella Blog! I spent a couple hours last week browsing through all that yumminess that this blog has to offer. Jordan & I were hooked and we just had to give it a try. We went simple the first time around and just added a few sprinkles here and there. Let me tell you --- these are the ultimate in yumminess! Everyone in the house is hooked. We are going to shoot for more decorating next time around!

Also this weekend, I was able to get some scrappin' time in. Not tons, but enough! Here is the only layout I can share with you today:

Change stays the same

I've had that picture for awhile and just couldn't make up my mind what supplies I wanted to use. This new stuff from Basic Grey turned out perfect.

A Chilly Thursday in Washington!

It is down right cold outside. We've had rain, wind and now chilly temperatures. My son is thrilled - the mountains have opened up for snowboarding and he is one happy camper. Me on the other hand, I'm just praying that we make it through Christmas without any snow down here!

I was able to get my layout finished (under the gun) for the next round of the Ms. Sassy 09 Contest over at Sassy Scrappers. I have been hanging on to this piece of packaging from a Prima transparency and I finally got a chance to use it. Isn't that background fun? Love that it was 12 x 12!

The challenge this week was to be inspired by various pictures of gorgeous formalwear gowns. I went with the teal, black & white one. One of my favorite color combos!

Monday Challenge For You!

Mondays are challenge day over at the Scrap Tiffany Challenge Blog and I had fun with this one! The challenge is to step outside your box and try something different. I do a lot of trying new things, so this stumped me for awhile. In order to figure something out, I thought about what all my layouts have in common. This is usually a lot of COLOR. So, to step outside my box, I went with the absence of color --- a monochrome white layout! I love the way it turned out!

Wedding photos...

...I didn't get many pics of the bride & groom. I really didn't want to be snapping pics during the ceremony and during the reception they were always surrounded by tons of folks. But, it was a BEAUTIFUL CEREMONY! I love weddings and the huge celebration that comes with them. This was no exception. There was tons of great food, lots of fabulous dancing, and plenty of family visiting. Here you go..... tons of photos for you:

Yep --- it's Friday and the start of a fun, busy weekend for our family. Tonight we have the wedding rehearsal and dinner - which Luke & I will be going to while David takes Austin to baseball and Jordan takes Chase to Church. Tomorrow, the schedule gets a little but crazy --- but I think we have a plan:

8:30 - Jordan leaves for school testing
10:00 - Drop Austin off at Soccer Game
11:30 - Drop David & Luke off at Soccer Game
1:00 - Pick up Austin at soccer Game
1:30 - Pick up Luke at Soccer Game
2:00 - Jordan picks up Coach David at End of the Year Soccer Party
4:00 - Luke & I to church for Pictures
6:30 - Wedding starts!

Believe me --- it is getting very complicated these days with only 2 vehicles!

The weather was chilly last night - but the house was cozy. In fact, within minutes of Jordan laying down in front of the fire -- she had guests:

Earlier in the day Cooper figured out that we have new members of our family --- thankfully, all he did was look!

Rainy Day Monday

It's cold & dreary outside but we are celebrating inside! Today is Chase's 13th birthday and we are going to party! Well, okay --- just a family dinner --- but with the numbers in our family, it's sure to be fun! His special request for dinner tonight is breakfast foods --- so the menu looks like this:

-Strawberry & whip cream waffles
-fresh cut hashbrowns
-bacon & sausage
-english muffins!
-double chocoloate cake for dessert!

Thirteen --- that only leaves one left, one that is still a young boy. Not a teenager or adult like the others. Man --- I don't feel that old!

Also happening today is a new challenge up on the Scrap Tiffany Blog! It's a sketch challenge and I had the honor of creating the sketch!
