Scrappin' Time!

I have big plans to scrap all day tomorrow ---shhhhhh..... don't tell anyone. I don't want anyone to change my plans!

I completed my last challenge for the Scrap Tiffany Blog. I had such a great time working with her and all the fun ladies on the DT over there! This last challenge was about resolutions. I don't normally make them - since I always feel like I am setting myself up for failure. But ---- I saw this billboard a little while ago and I realized that a lot of my anxiety stems from finances ---either ours or the world in general. I decided that since the Lord is in charge of tomorrow - that I truly must STOP being anxious about it. He will bring tomorrow into my life exactly the way He plans and then He will help me get through it.

be anxious for nothing

I also played some more with my Scrappin' Sports & More ----

baseball player

Over Christmas Cooper got to meet and play with Sarah's new dog, Jack. Cooper got two new toys for Christmas --- those cute little stuffed dogs from Petco. I knew that he would eat them quickly --- but I got them for him anyway. Jack kept taking them away from Cooper. Cooper being the sweet dog that he is --- would let him. Cooper would then move on to the other one. Jack would stop chewing on his and come over and take Coopers again! After a few minutes of this, Cooper figured it out and wouldn't let Jack take his toy anymore. It was quite entertaining.

Christmas Update

Finally ---- I finally felt up to going through all the pictures ---- there were over 500 of them! I've been having issues with my camera, though, so I only ended up with about 50 good ones! I really need to start thinking about a new Canon. I think there is going to be some creative financing in my future!

Christmas was FANTASTIC! I was really having a hard time getting in the mood this year. It just came up so quickly and we didn't really spend much time with our normal Christmas activities this year. But, it turned out to be the best Christmas that I remember in a long time.

Christmas Eve:

We started out by visiting Grandpa Kenny --- he is doing great! I really need to make a better effort this year to stop by and visit more often! Then we headed to Shannon's for the family Christmas Eve party. Eddie was back as Santa -- we missed you last year -- and it felt so festive! Even though the house was super crowded - it was great to see everyone happy and together.

Then we headed home for the evening --- we took pics, had a ping pong tournament, read the Christmas Story, and watched a movie --- before settling all the kids in the living room to sleep. I love that Travis & Jordan still sleep out there with the boys --- even though there are empty, comfortable beds in the house!

Christmas morning didn't arrive as early as it usually does! THe kids are getting older and they like their sleep --- we finally got out of bed about 7:30 -- the younger kids opened their stockings while Travis & Jordan tried to sleep!

Then we had a big breakfast and waited for Mike & Sarah to arrive. A big thanks to the neighbors for bringing us a huge jug of buttermilk pancake mix and 3 pounds of sausage! Sarah & Mike arrived with their puppies in toe and the fun began!

I wrapped presents a little differently this year --- all gifts in one box.

Everyone came away happy! There was smiles and laughter all around. We spent the next hour watching Big Bang Theory on video and laughing our heads off with Sheldon and Leonard!

Next up was a Ping Pong Tournament and then we headed out to see "Sherlock Holmes" at the theater. It was a fabulous holiday!

I can't explain the feeling this year --- there was no bickering - no drama. It was relaxing and calm and everyone was happy to be here together. Over the years, there has always been the feeling like we were forcing the kids to all be together --- not this year. No one was in a hurry and everyone was happy just to chill and be together. I loved that. It made my heart happy. I loved spending this holiday focusing on my family. Over the years, we have always -- ran here, ran there -- hurry, hurry, hurry. This year, David & I decided that Christmas Eve could be about extended family, but Christmas DAy had to be about us and our kids. It was amazing.

Weekend Update

Baking Day was Saturday and we baked and baked and baked! We ended up with:

Peppermint Bark
12 dozen truffles in 3 flavors
9 dozen cookies in 3 flavors
20 pounds of fudge in 4 flavors
a 13 gallon garbage bag of carmel corn
peanut clusters
candy cane hearts
2 gingerbread houses

Of course - we were all so busy and exhausted that I didn't take very many pictures! Only have a few for you:

A couple more cute pics for you --- Chase was on a youth group sleepover and was exhausted the whole day. Jack came over with Sarah and snuggled up with Chase most of the day:

I'm not sure what triggered it, but I ended up with a migraine yesterday, the first one I have had in 4 years! The meds I take for anxiety usually work on my migraines too -- but somehow this one broke right through. Luckily, it was bad as far as migraines go --- but I did veg the day away yesterday and have a lovely migraine hangover today. I have had a few layouts to share with you for awhile ---

Sarah & Mike brought him over last night --- he stole the show! It was the birthday party for Jordan & Michelle - we had a great dinner, sweet dessert, awesome game of pictionary on the big board (the girls won!) - but the only pictures we have are of Jack! It was a fun night though!

Birthday Wishes!

Happy Birthday baby girl! 19 years old --- amazing. Remember that day like it was yesterday --- you blessed me with a gloriously short 4 hour labor and delivery. You always have made parenting look easy. I'm grateful for that!

(By the way --- you don't wake up so happy & bright eyed anymore!)

Birthday's are a plenty this time of year and we are also celebrating over on the Scrap Tiffanyblog. It's her birthday week too! My layout was from Chase's birthday ---- man I love that boy! Still made a wish and blew it out for me even though we were candleless!

Warm Hearts - Frigid Toes

It's been over 24 hours since I let the fire burn out to obey the County wide burn ban. I am officially frozen solid. The heat is on but nothing is the same as having a roaring fire and a cozy living room. I am praying that the ban will be lifted soon -- well at least before the snow hits! Yes, SNOW. Again --- a snow storm right before Christmas. I could get used to it!

My heart is warm though --- I had tons of fun working with the new Imaginisce Valentine Line of paper - Sweet Cheri!

Okay ---so don't look to closely at this photo --- it looks like I have a black eye! I'm not sure why I didn't see that BEFORE I printed and used the photo!

Sweet Cheri - Sweethearts

This one is a lift from a fabulous layout in the Nov/Dec issue of Scrapbooks Etc by SHannon Zickel. I loved that she used a empty return envelope!
